How a Sarasota Soccer Mom survived a Siberian Snowstorm, a foiled Colombian kidnapping, and raising teens.  With insight and humor, the new owner of Key Sailing returns home to share her adventures with us, right across the street from the bayfront park named after her father, Chaplain J.D. Hamel.  Jan's journey will take her family and yours from a balloon safari over South Africa to a swimming party with (uninvited) piranha. Laugh and cry you will, and when you reach the end, you will also conclude that, if you determine to enjoy it, life can indeed be, "A BREEZE."

   

Together with her sailor husband Tim, hometown girl and published author Janet Hamel Solomon has spent the last thirty years working and playing in thirty countries in North and South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, and the Middle East. Janet holds her B.A. in Education from The University of South Florida, and her Master of Education in Curriculum Writing from Ashland University, where Tim serves on the Board of Trustees. Janet began her doctorate in Cross Cultural Studies from The Ohio State University before returning home to study the crystal white sand of Siesta Key. The Solomons have two children, Lisa and Stephen, who have also wisely chosen to reside in Sarasota, when not living among the Waodani of Ecuador, or off on some Australian adventures of their own.
